Privacy Policy

Nabu is a reading library that saves articles, blog posts, and essays you choose to import, cleans them up, and can read them aloud. This policy explains what information is involved and how it's handled.

What stays on your device

The articles, collections, categories, authors, notes, and audio you create or import are stored locally on your iPhone using on-device storage, and synced across your devices through your own iCloud account when available. Nabu does not have access to your iCloud account or its contents.

What you send to extract an article

When you save a new article, Nabu sends the URL or the captured page content to its extraction service to be converted into clean text and images. This may include the page address, the page's text and images, and any text, image, or document you choose to import. The service returns a cleaned article, which is then stored on your device.

What you send to generate audio

When you ask Nabu to read an article aloud, the article's text is sent to a text-to-speech provider to produce audio. The generated audio is then stored on your device so you can listen to it again without re-generating it.

Service providers

To provide extraction and audio features, Nabu uses third-party services that may process request data, including content you submit, on their own infrastructure. These providers may include article-rendering services, AI content providers, and speech services. They process this data on our behalf to fulfil your request and may retain it according to their own policies.

Analytics and crash reports

Nabu may collect anonymous, aggregated usage metrics and crash reports to improve stability and features. This data does not identify you personally and is not combined with the articles you read.

In-app purchases

Subscriptions and credits are processed by Apple's App Store. Payment and subscription status are handled by Apple under its own privacy policy. Nabu receives a record of your entitlements to unlock features, not your payment details.

What we don't do

Nabu doesn't sell your data, doesn't build a profile of your reading habits for advertising, and doesn't share your articles with third parties for marketing. Articles you save are yours.

Your choices

You can delete any article, note, or audio from the app at any time. You can uninstall Nabu to remove on-device data. iCloud sync is controlled by your device's iCloud settings. Subscriptions can be managed in your App Store account.

Children

Nabu is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
